We had been out for a meal with our middle daughter and grand daughter last night, and left Ruby (our Labrador) guarding the house. When we arrived home our next door neighbour was outside replacing a bulb in a security light, and he mentioned that at 5 o’clock that morning, when he had been leaving for work he had come across two shady characters who appeared to be looking carefully down all the drives. They went up the next door but ones drive (where two motor bikes are kept) but beat a hasty retreat when he drove slowly past in his car. He returned to his house and saw them wandering slowly down the field at the back of the houses, and he then had words with them. (A right royal slanging match by all accounts)
I went into our house to Ruby’s usual sleeping spot, to find no Ruby. The house was empty, but no signs of a break in. It was just a few minutes later that I discovered two suitcases cases in the lounge. Fear not anxious friends they belonged to our youngest daughter and her fiancée, who were staying at our house yesterday evening, prior to flying off to Jamaica for a fortnight’s holiday. They had left the cases and taken Ruby for a walk!
Our middle daughter and Olivia, our eldest grand daughter were anxious to see the photos I had received via e mail, from a fellow blogger, of our god daughter’s new arrival, Alexander George, who was born on Thursday. Olivia also wanted to see the photos I had taken of Ruby (our Labrador) playing with Miffy (our rabbit). [See yesterday’s blog]
Sometime later our youngest daughter and fiancée arrived with Ruby in tow. Fond farewells took place, Middle daughter and Olivia departed for home having decided to take Ruby with them “for a holiday” and I returned to get ready for bed, knowing that we would be up at 3.30 am so that the Jamaica travellers could get to Manchester International Airport in time for their flight.
However…...
Fiancée Ben had forgotten his glasses so I had to take him back home to retrieve them. Dolly, their kitten had been left in the safe keeping of said fiancée’s two friends, but she had got out. Fortunately we saw her and got her back in the house before departing. Unknown to us our youngest daughter had discovered that their travel insurance documents were still in their house, and as neither of us had our mobile phones……..
I finally hit the pillow around midnight. 3.30 am arrived, along with their taxi, and they left for Manchester International Airport.
Received from the Phillips family in response to this blog.......
