And Now For Some Good News!

Those of you who follow my blog regularly will know that on Saturday, along with my two grand children, we spent some time sorting and cataloguing the music in the choir vestry. This was because it had been decided to dispose of the collection of music, which is never likely to be made use of. This is due to the fact that the very small number of people in the choir is insufficient to sing in four part harmony – we have no altos and no tenors!

When I finally got home yesterday evening, there was a message waiting for me on the answer phone, from a lady who is a member of a church choir in Darlington. (Her sister is a member of our church, and she had e mailed her the list of choir music we were disposing of and knowing that she might be interested in purchasing some of the copies.) She was in desperate need of one of the anthems we had for sale, and requested that I post them up to her, but the even better new was that she had met with her church PCC that morning and they were willing to purchase the full collection for £300.00!

Having had a vicar at a previous church I played for try to dispose of a similar collection of anthems, and knowing what little success he had, I am absolutely delighted with the offer, particularly as she said she would pay the money to the Parish Church Council, on condition it was earmarked to be spent on any music requirements our church had. (Here is a lady who knows how money can just disappear into church funds!)
