Waren Mill & Budle Bay

I have previously mentioned that when we are in Northumberland we stay a couple of miles north of Bamburgh, at a small hamlet called Waren Mill.
The property we stay in has been converted from farm outbuildings, but don't get the wrong idea that we stay in a barn! Oh No! It is a beautiful self contained two storey building, and everything has been designed "upside down" as it were.

The small complex, comprising three self catering properties and one which was sold to the ex vicar of Holy Island is known as Smugglers Court. We stay in Cove Cottage which has the bedrooms, bathroom and toilet on the ground floor, and the kitchen, dining area and lounge on the upper floor.

About one hundred yards from our Cottage is Budle Bay - a large curving sweep of bay, which is completely empty of water when the tide goes out, and the spot to see lots of seabirds too.

Coming back from Bamburgh on a sunny evening, just as the sun is beginning to set, you get some magnificent sunsets over the bay. The interplay of sunlight on the water, and the moving clouds creates an ever changing scene.

All the photos below were taken within about five minutes!

This year when we walked across the road to Budle Bay we came across a rather fetching table and chairs!
