Melrose

Whenever we stay at Waren Mill, one of the areas we visit is the Borders. In particular we call in at Kelso, which I have mentioned before, but we also like Melrose. So we spent a day doing the "Borders Trip"

As we had already called into Kelso on the way from Arran, we didn't spend too much time there, but Melrose got a fair bit of our attention. Dot likes it because of the rather high class "country style" shops, and she did finish up buying a mirror from one of them.

I just enjoy the ambiance of the place. The High Street is typical "Borders", with a seating area at the top of the High Street and a market cross.

Some years ago we discovered a superb family run restaurant. It is a traditionally run Scottish establishment. Small and "genteel" with some very tasty food on the menu! So we always make it in our way to call there and patronise them.
